First day of the challenge and it is tempting to jump right to the tables. However, this is not the best way to start the process. Planning is critical. The first two weeks of March will be heavily focused on Chicago Poker Classic. The last two weeks of the March I will focus on cash. From my estimate, I would like to play 200 hours in the month of March. A modest $50/hr would do the job for the goal. The daily blog entry will be short, I will discuss all the numbers from that day and maybe some other qualitative aspects of the game. So what is in store tomorrow? To play NLH cash in the morning until PLO kicks off. The latter is where the money is now a days; unfortunately on a weekday, PLO doesn't kick off until the afternoon. The idea is to just get back to the felt (did not play any poker in January essentially). Thanks for reading! Leave you comments here >
3/1/2016 - LET THE CHALLENGE BEGIN!
3/2/2016 - DIET: THE SMALL EDGES
Why not start with the modern live poker clich ... EAT HEALTHY! Damn right, you need that brain food when trying to crush games day in and day out. However, it is easier said then done. Who wants to spend time packing a meal when you can get FREE/COMP food at the Shoe? The plan was to survive 5-6 hours on just bananas, oranges, and peanuts (I snatched a truckload from Five Guys ... It didn't say can't take home). In hindsight I would have liked to pack some real food since the healthy snacks were not enough. Nonetheless, I survived. The point is small decisions like what you eat at the table can really change your focus on the game, also makes you feel good that you have come prepared. Can YOU give me any ideas as to what food to take to a long poker grind? Now to poker. It felt nostalgic walking into a 2/5 game and be the youngest guy on an early Wednesday afternoon. Although the game was good I chose to move to the PLO as soon as it opened because that is where the money is now a days. After a little mistake here or there and not much going I called off a huge bluff in a spot that I would fold almost 95%. That is right 95%. The reason I called is because of a live intuition which you can only get by putting in the hours. In short, flop went four handed and I check called HU all three streets with the villan shoving the river ($80 on flop, $225 on turn, $350 on river) on a 5-6d-10d-5-9 board with only AAxx. Ended the day with a $475 and that's just the start I was looking for this month. Thanks for reading! Leave you comments here >
3/4/2016 - SEE U ON THE FLIPDY FLOP
Don't live a one dimensional life. At the very last moment I decided instead of playing poker today I will spend my time cleaning, getting errands done, non-poker stuff. As my girlfriend would say, a little bit of break never hurt anyone. Will not bore you with my errands but I am excited for the weekend! Saturdays plan is to make Day-2 in the noon bullet but just in case we don't will fire the 5pm as well. Sunday would be exicting as well regardless of if I make day-2 or not. The PLO tournament at 5pm will be upon us! Thanks for reading! Leave you comments here >
3/3/2016 - Anti-Instant Gratification
The tournament grind is brutal. That's all today was. 20.83% of my day spent on an activity that costed $360 and did no reap any reward. On the bright side, you do not have much to read. Thanks for reading! Leave you comments here >
